Summary: Zhongchuang Xinhang's lithium cathode material project was approved on 7 Sept.

On 7 Sept., the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of Zhongchuang Xinhang Material Technology (Sichuan) Co., Ltd. (Zhongchuang Xinhang)'s lithium cathode material project was issued by the People's Government of Pengshan District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province.

The following list of highlights for the lithium cathode material project is provided:

• Location: Pengshan Economic Development Zone, Meizhou City, Sichuan Province
• Key construction works: two new iron phosphate production workshops (one 80,000 t/a iron phosphate "iron powder line" and one 20,000 t/a iron sulfate "ferrous line"), two LFP production workshops (one 60,000 t/a and one 40,000 t/a LFP production line), as well as supporting facilities
• Production capacity: 100,000 t/a of LFP cathode materials, and byproducts ammonium sulfate and ammonium dihydrogen phosphate
• Floor areas: approximately 350 mu
• Estimated total investment: USD250.74 million (RMB1.80 billion)

 

Zhongchuang Xinhang is the first wholly-owned subsidiary of CALB Group Co., Ltd. to produce cathode materials. In addition to generating LFP cathode materials, Zhongchuang Xinhang has also established a 20GWh/a li-ion battery production project in the Penshan Economic Development Zone. About 50GWh of cathode materials for LFP batteries will be supplied yearly after the lithium cathode material project is finished, and Meishan will become the company's other significant manufacturing base. At present, Changzhou City of Jiangsu Province, Wuhan City of Hubei Province, Chengdu City of Sichuan Province, Jiangmen City of Guangdong Province, Xiamen City of Fujian Province, and Hefei City of Anhui Province are home to Zhongchuang Xinhang's li-ion battery production bases, which have a combined li-ion cell capacity of nearly 100GWh/a.
